We’ve Figured It Out
Read our spiel, tell us we’re wrong?
(Or skip to our solution… click here)
Physiotherapist’s are first contact practitioners that have countless number of patient’s needing medicare funded radiology referrals from GPs.
Physiotherapists and GPs don’t get paid enough to continually follow up patient’s who:
a) Can’t be bothered organising their scan
b) Wont pick up their phone after their scan is completed
Physiotherapists, and patients, get frustrated that GP’s are at the centre of the radiology referral process, but this is okay, it is actually beneficial to have a medical opinion during this process.
The problem actually lies with the patient.
They don’t understand the process and don’t have the time nor patience (pun intended) to go from the physio, to the GP, back to the GP, then to the physio, all for one report.
What if they need another investigation? What if they cant take more work off? What if they simply can’t be bothered?
Well, we have cleaned this up.
The solution
These are the facts.
Physiotherapists spend 30-45 minutes examining the patient as this is all they have been trained in,
GPs need to know a truckload of information about everything re the human body and simply can’t be musculoskeletal experts - without rigorous training.
So,
Does this sound like a good solution?
Physiotherapists work out the problem via assessment, decide if a scan is necessary, then the GP approves the scan if they deem it necessary.
Now,
How do we make this so easy?
Our software creates the physiotherapy referral and pre-fills a radiology slip. It instantly sends to our Telehealth GP partner, who can immediately call the patient (or the patient books a time within the next few hours that suits). The GP confirms the patient’s symptoms and functional deficits outlined by the physio. As the pre-filled E-slip is finalised and signed off, it immediately sends to the patient. We, Refr, help the patient find a radiology appointment and continually guide them through the process, whilst regularly keeping the treating physiotherapist up to date via our patient journey mapping software.
Our software fast-tracks communication, reduces admin, increases patient adherence, improves patient care, fast-tracks results, streamlines the referral process and lastly, saves the government millions and millions of unwarranted funding to see their local (extremely overworked) GP for a simple scan slip - nothing too serious or life threatening that a Telehealth GP and physiotherapist can’t manage.
Viola.
Doesn’t this sound better?
The Physiotherapist collaborate when deciding what scan the patient needs
Because the physio has just done a 45 minute assessment…
The patient will have a referral letter and radiology slip generated and sent to one of our Telehealth partners.
The physiotherapist can suggest what scan needs to be done and where they want it done.
The patient gets contacted within 15 minutes of doing the form (or can book a time that suits) by our Telehealth GP partner, to confirm their injury and details.
The radiology E-slip is signed there and then by the Telehealth GP, sent to the patient and physiotherapist.
But wAIT, there’s more…
Physiotherapist will get notified when the patient has booked the scan, where they booked and when they’ll have the scan.
Physiotherapist will get notified when the patient finishes the scan.
Physiotherapist will get notified when the report is ready.
The patient is contacted by us and hassled to rebook with the physiotherapist to discuss the results and treatment plan.
